Colin Aylott QC appears at the Old Bailey for the sentencing of Bidhya Das. The tragic case concerns the killing by the defendant of his 15 month old son.

The defendant pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and the attempted murder of another child. The defendant was sentenced by Mr. Justice Spencer at the Old Bailey following a 2 day hearing. The case involved complex psychiatric evidence and lengthy submissions on potential disposals available under the Mental Health Act. The court imposed section 37/41 orders under the Mental Health Act 2003.
