Chris Henley QC leading John Carl Townsend, Simon Csoka QC and Roxanne Morrell represent former directors of Solar Energy Savings Ltd (“SES”) in SFO prosecution.

SES had devised the “360 Returns Scheme”, which promised customers a 100% return on the funds they had used in the purchase of the company’s solar panels. Customers were informed that the scheme was viable and had been underwritten by a policy of insurance. Contrary to those claims, the scheme was not, in fact, viable and no policy of insurance had ever been obtained.

The defendants were convicted following a trial at the Liverpool Crown Court, which took place over some 5 months and required the consideration of material that had been generated in connected civil proceedings. Chris Henley QC and John Carl Townsend represented the company’s former CEO, Stephen Wilson. Simon Csoka QC represented Ludovic Black who was a shadow director of SES and, on the SFO’s case, the ultimate controlling mind behind the company and the 360 Returns Scheme. Roxanne Morrell represented Robert Ross. Mr. Ross was a Director of EPH Ltd, the installation company for the solar panels installed, and Ultra Energy, which offered a remodelled “360 returns model” by the name of “tariff booster.”

Chris Henley QC and John Carl Townsend were instructed by Mike Rainford of JMW Solicitors.

Simon Csoka QC was instructed by David Caplin of Cunninghams Solicitors.

Roxanne Morrell was instructed by Maria Stalbow of Bark & Co.
