Breaking news: Members of chambers secured acquittals for two defendants in the first UK prosecution for a missing trader fraud conducted using the artificial trade of carbon credit permits.
Charles Bott QC and Robert Marshall-Andrews QC led Mark Harries and Colin Aylott respectively in a trial at Southwark Crown Court that lasted over 3 months; the jury took less that 3 days to return verdicts of not guilty against their defendants. Three men were convicted for their role in this £38 million pound fraud that brought about a change in the VAT laws applicable to emissions permit trading.
