PROFESSOR FELICITY GERRY QC - #My25Years Bringing Back Brief Chats - Wednesday 20th February 2019 Carmelite Chambers, 9, Carmelite Street, London EC4Y0DR

An entertaining chat with stars of law and justice…
In person and by livestream.
Felicity Gerry QC is celebrating 25 years at the Bar of England and Wales by bringing back Brief Chats with
Kim Evans (commissioning editor of thejusticegap.com) and Barbara Hamilton Bruce (Senior Executive at
BHB Consulting and CILEx fellow). Originally a podcast series for the University of Law, this time the event
will be filmed in Carmelite Chambers library and live streamed to the public.
Felicity decided to celebrate this milestone as a small tribute to The First Hundred Years project which in turn
celebrates 2019 as 100 years since women were permitted to practice as lawyers in England and Wales. In a
recognition that many women lawyers are lost to attrition, we hope this event will inspire young law students
and lawyers to keep going….
We are delighted that there will be an all women panel to answer questions on their careers and topical legal
issues. Panellists will be
• Frances Crook OBE - Chief Executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform, the oldest penal
reform charity in the United Kingdom.
• Brie Stevens–Hoare QC – Judicial Appointments Commissioner, Diversity Champion at Hardwicke
Chambers and Barrister of the Year 2019, Modern Law Awards.
• Peta-Louise Bagott – Rising Star at Carmelite Chambers currently instructed to appear in the United
Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in the Ratko Mladić appeal
proceedings and together with Felicity leading a team of international scholars, granted leave to file
submissions as Amicus Curiae in the IRMCT Appeals Chamber in the Radovan Karadžić appeal.
