Instructed in a wide rage of cases involving organised crime, fraud, drugs, firearms, serious and sexual violence, including manslaughter, armed robbery, kidnap and rape. Wide experience in Crown and Appellate courts. Particular interests in cases with complex forensic issues and abuse of process and disclosure arguments.

NOTABLE CASES
R v Coker (2003) Central Criminal Court
Junior Counsel led by Queen’s Counsel. Manslaughter- one of the first cases dealing with death following a significant period of time later. Complex issues of causation and expert evidence.
R v Rose (2003-4) Lewes Crown Court
Junior Counsel alone. Trial on allegations of sexual abuse and attempted rape of step- daughter aged 7. Substantial arguments on third party disclosure and admissibility. Number of child witnesses.
R v Miller (2004- 5) Reading Crown Court
Junior Counsel led by Queen’s Counsel. Long term police operation culminating in multiple count indictment including three charges of rape, aiding and abetting rape, false imprisonment, procuring and control of prostitutes (including minors), inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, 4 counts of supply of class A and robbery. Successful legal arguments by Junior Counsel alone by way of skeleton argument and oral submissions on dismissal, stay and nullity led to the majority of the indictment being dismissed and the Crown offering no evidence on the remainder.
R v Z Akhtar and Others (2005) Reading Crown Court
Junior Counsel led in trial of large scale organised supply of class A.
R v T Akhtar and Others (2005 and 2006)
Junior Counsel led in trial commencing as attempted murder- eventually prosecuted as section 18. An alleged ritual and punishment offence relating to drug dealing and debt, involving computer and cell site evidence. Complex evidential and witness issues and arguments on character, Follow on trial as Junior Counsel alone for the same defendant on charges of kidnap, false imprisonment, blackmail and robbery. Following legal arguments- Crown offered no evidence.

R v Lant (2005-6) Ipswich Crown Court
Junior Counsel led in trial and re-trial of kidnap, rape and indecent assault of a minor. Complex issues on character, sexual history, disclosure and abuse of process as the defendant was on day release at the time of the allegations having spent the previous 50 years in custody for sexual assault and murder- and further offences of false imprisonment and murder whilst at a Secure Hospital.
R v Brazil and Others (2007) Southwark Crown Court
Junior Counsel alone in trial and re trial on indictment relating to armed robberies of prostitutes and brothels in Soho.
R v H (2007-8) Southwark Crown Court and Court of Appeal
Junior Counsel alone in numerous matters of sexual assault. Complex issues issues on SOPO and nature of serious sexual harm and sensitive issues relating to identity of defendant and defence witnesses.
R v Lawrence (2007-8) Stafford Crown Court
Junior Counsel alone. Attempted murder and section 18 (multiple stabbing) of fellow prisoner. Complex expert forensic evidence on numerous issues.
R v Rattray (2008) Inner London Crown Court
Junior Counsel alone. Robbery. Defendant sectioned under the Mental Health Act following arrest and on remand and during trial. Complex issues on admissibility, professional conduct and mental health issues.
R v Orisajuyi & Others (2008- 9) Southwark Crown Court
HMRC Tax credit fraud.
R v Khongpon & Others (2008) Southwark Crown Court
Junior Counsel led. Conspiracy to traffick persons from outside UK and money laundering offences. Largest internet brothel operation in UK.
R v Wedlake & Others (2008- 9) Kingston Crown Court
Junior Counsel led. Conspiracies to commit armed robberies and 24 substantive robberies indicted.
R v Dandy & Others (2009) Snaresbrook Crown Court
Leading Junior in conspiracy to supply class A.
