PRACTICE Predominantly criminal defence practice: instructed in cases of supplying drugs, serious violence and dishonesty. Also has experience of Prison Law (including adjudications and Parole Board hearings), extradition and cash forfeiture proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act. Instructed by the Serious Fraud Office assisting in independent review of disclosure and legal professional privilege.
NOTABLE CASES R v SB, Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) Successful appeal against 12-month sentence of imprisonment for Affray. R v AF, Maidstone Crown Court Successful defence of a man charged with intimidation of his partner who had provided a statement to the police alleging a domestic assault. R v JB, Guildford Youth Court Prosecution alleged that JB had driven a car at several people causing grievous bodily harm. It was said that the offence was aggravated by shouts from the defendant deliberately targeted the victim on the grounds of his sexual orientation. R v NM, Feltham Magistrates’ Court Defence of man alleged to have assaulted a police officer after committing minor road traffic violation. The three-day trial involved allegations that the police officers had deliberately concealed CCTV evidence. R v AD, Isleworth Crown Court Representing a young man with learning difficulties on a charge of possession of a sawn-off shotgun. Sentenced to one month imprisonment. R v SE, Snaresbrook Crown Court Defence of man accused with two others of Affray and three counts of ABH. First on the indictment for a two-week trial. Acquitted of two counts of ABH. Non-custodial sentence imposed.
