PRACTICE
Exclusively criminal defence practice.

In addition to defending individuals in all criminal trial courts on charges covering a broad inventory of offences, has experience representing interested parties in coroner’s inquests, offenders in prison adjudication hearings, and undertaking contested hearings in quasi-criminal proceedings such as applications for anti-social behaviour orders and sexual offences prevention orders.

RECENT CASES
R v MD (Chichester CC)
Acquittal at trial of defendant charged with violent offences. The defendant had been diagnosed as suffering from Asperger’s Syndrome at the severe end of the spectrum.
R v IZ (Snaresbrook CC)
Acquittal at trial of defendant facing a charge of attempted burglary, despite overwhelming forensic evidence and his arrest at the scene.
R v IG (Snaresbrook CC)
Acquittal at trial of defendant charged with sexual offences.
R v CW (Harrow CC)
Defence at trial of a 14 year-old youth charged with robbery. 
R v AW & Another (Harrow CC)
Acquittal at trial of defendant charged with possession with intent to supply significant amounts of class A and class C drugs. 

CURRENT INSTRUCTIONS
Currently instructed as led junior in a large scale conspiracy to supply heroin. This case forms part of a large police operation in the north-west.

As well as the above, currently instructed in contested cases on indictment of fraud, burglary, immigration offences, and possession of offensive weapons.


OTHER ACTIVITIES
Before coming to the Bar, worked for several years in the United States assisting in the representation of individuals facing the death penalty in America’s Deep South. Led the investigation on behalf of scores of defendants at all stages of the capital trial process. Continue to be actively involved in the representation on several death penalty cases, consulting on numerous death penalty projects with the charity Reprieve, and lecturing and teaching on the subject.

Involved with the legal action charity Just for Kids Law, an organisation that provides assistance to disadvantaged children in London.
