Crime and Proceeds of Crime
Experienced leading junior and junior across all offence categories. In recent years instructed in a number of high profile and complex cases which have encompassed murder, serious fraud, international drug trafficking and money laundering and related actions involving restraint, forfeiture, confiscation and enforcement.


Civil
Expertise in insurance and civil cases where quasi-criminal issues such as fraud and dishonesty form central plank of dispute. Also experience in civil actions against the police, private harassment claims and privacy. Regular appearances in condemnation and forfeiture proceedings.

Regulatory
Regular appearances before tribunals including FA Premier League, VAT Tribunal and  GMC.

R v. Van Hoogstraten – Old Bailey and Court of Appeal
Junior counsel on behalf of millionaire businessman Nicholas Van Hoogstraten at his retrial which resulted in his acquittal and the related subsequent appeal.

R v. Blackman & ors – Woolwich Crown Court
Junior counsel in successful defence of robbery charge for security guard in the Johnson Matthey gold bullion robbery.

R v. Wilson – Leeds Crown Court
Successful defence as leading junior of Defendant alleged to be at hub of international conspiracy to smuggle and distribute large volumes of Class A drugs into UK.

R v. Ahmed – Inner London Crown Court
Successful defence of main conspirator on grounds of duress in case involving repeated supply of 5 kgs heroin to undercover police officers.

R v. B – Court of Appeal
Fresh evidence appeal in relation to recent high profile murder.

WH (2009-) – Luton Crown Court
Leading junior for Defendant in “car crash for cash” conspiracy involving in excess of 700 claims.

R v. M – Court of Appeal (awaiting judgment)
Junior in CCRC reference where Appellant convicted of murder and issues of  executive misconduct form the ground of appeal.

Successful defence of disciplinary action before FA Premier League on behalf of prominent professional footballer.

Recent successful High Court action on behalf of Claimant resulting in permanent injunction and significant award of damages involving issues of harassment, breach of confidence and privacy between two prominent local journalists.
